Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

This machine has been one of the best I've ever owned. It's a fantastic machine and I can't say enough good things about it.

27-inch, 5k monitor that pairs premium build quality with color accuracy, great brightness, and integrated speakers, microphone, and webcam.

It's such a small dock, but it does so much. It has a gazillion ports and handles pretty much anything I can throw at it. One small upgrade was to purchase a USB-C headphone adapter so that I didn't have to use the front-facing headphone jack for my computer speakers.

I used to type on a Kinesis Freestyle -- the Ergodox was such an upgrade. It's comfortable to type on for extended periods of time and doesn't require replacing the entire keyboard if something is broken.

If I'm going to slouch in the worst possible ergonomic position imaginable all day, I might as well do it in an expensive chair.

I'm back on ye' olde Visual Studio Code. Someday I'll go back to my beloved Neovim, but today, I have deadlines.

WezTerm is incredibly fast, allowed me a wide variety of customizability, and is configured with Lua (which makes it easy to switch between configuring my various tools, since most of them are configured with Lua).

This is one of my favorite database clients ever. It's packed with features, power efficient, and works exactly like a database client ought to: it gets out of your way and lets you focus on your data.

Things was great, but the sharing functionality really didn't work for me. I started using Reminders and it's a much nicer experience compared to the last time I tried it. I use it in essentially the same way as Things + it has slightly better integration with the rest of the Apple ecosystem.

This tiny, single-purpose app has become indispensable to me. It's essentially a missing feature from Apple Calendar: I just want an icon in the menu bar that I can click to see a list of upcoming events + the ability to get details about an event (like, for instance, a meeting link). That's it. That's the entire app. I used to use ItsyCal, but Dato is much more polished and integrated with the rest of macOS.

I take screenshots and annotate them all the time. Sometimes I record screencasts as well. CleanShot lets me do all of that and even has a fancy cloud service that you can use to share the results.

I don't have a ton of stuff set up in Hammerspoon, but it's enough that I miss it if I don't have it. The main thing I use it for is for positioning windows programmatically with keyboard shortcuts, but I also have it automatically configure my audio settings and a couple of other minor things.
